Right outside the BART station plaza, you just never know where it is that you’ll stop feeling like an alien and start taking it all in …
I was waiting for folks, after a couple of movies at the Opera Plaza Landmark. Got there early since parking was easy last night (uncommonly so) and had time to talk to my parents back home, then “meld in” with the crowd.
For 30 minutes, maybe longer, I enjoyed the bits and pieces that those “street performers” shared with stander-bys. Everything from poetry readings to quick songs, to passionate speeches.
Nobody looked as out of place as I probably did. But that is the beauty of it, that I am probably the only one thinking in those terms, and therefore the evening’s enjoyment.
Maybe Mission over SOMA is not such a bad idea after all.
