{"id":157,"date":"2006-02-02T13:05:52","date_gmt":"2006-02-02T20:05:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jjmata.com\/wp-acr\/?p=157"},"modified":"2006-02-02T13:07:17","modified_gmt":"2006-02-02T20:07:17","slug":"new-file-server-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jjmata.com\/?p=157","title":{"rendered":"New file server plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was only a matter of time (it will always be) and my Linux software-RAID based home fileserver reached full capacity right before Christmas break.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAfter some light investigation (sometimes the product you&#8217;ve been looking for finds you, rather than the other way around) I decided to buy a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infrant.com\/products_ReadyNAS600.htm\">ReadyNAS 600<\/a> from Infrant which is sitting at home waiting for a couple of 400GB drives to appear.<\/p>\n<p>Things to do:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Burn-in: run it for a week or so (longer?) before the full data migration happens.<\/li>\n<li>Set up new volume strategy (separate music and photos from user space, serve media content for direct TiVo access, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Automate virus checking and backup process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Thoughts for the future:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buy a second unit (locate old one in Spain?) and rsync across them for backup purposes?
